nick’s gelato™ is produced by Pete Palazzolo in Saugatuck, Michigan. At his production facility, Pete and his staff of chefs produce over 600 flavors of artisan (made from scratch) gelato and sorbetto in small batches and ship it frozen to a cold storage warehouse in Phoenix. Palazzolo's Artisan Gelato and Sorbetto was founded in 1986 by Marie Palazzolo and her son Pete. Prior to 1986, Marie opened Palazzolo's Italian Specialties in Saugatuck, serving homemade Italian cuisine. The town loved Marie's spinach and ricotta cheese calzones and fresh pasta. Marie was following in the footsteps of her father, Chef Peter Larco, owner of the famous Larco's Inn located in Detroit. Together, this mother-son team began making artisan-style gelato and sorbetto. The demand for Palazzolo's gelato became so great that Marie and Pete decided to wholesale to area restaurants. Through the experience of family tradition, Pete learned the necessity of offering the best product on the market with the best customer service. To Pete, this meant making every pan of gelato to order fresh, using the highest quality natural ingredients

Arizona's distributor of all natural gelato and sorbettonick’s gelato™ is made using real ingredients from around the world. Using these natural ingredients to flavor the products sets our gelato apart from most others who use mixes, gels, or powders (artificial flavorings that are encased in vegetable oils). Just ask any area gelato store where their gelato is produced. Most will proudly respond that their gelato is made fresh daily in their stores. This means that they are using these mixes and powders and not true, natural, 100% ingredients.

For example, our Roasted Pistachio gelato is just that... roasted pistachios! There's no fake green food coloring with an almond oil to fool you. This flavor is made by running dark roasted pistachios through a nut mill and steeping the resulting pistachio paste in artisan cream. As the roasted pistachio is being packed by the chef into tubs and pans, even more whole pistachios are folded into the gelato.
